What is Overprotectiveness in Parenting?
Overprotective parenting is like trying to keep your child in a bubble to shield them from anything that might be hard or uncomfortable. It comes from wanting to keep them safe and happy, but it can actually cause problems.
When parents are overprotective, they don't let their child face challenges or deal with tough feelings. They jump in too quickly to solve every problem for their child, which stops the child from learning how to handle things on their own.
This can be a problem because kids need to learn how to solve problems and deal with tough emotions. If parents always protect them from everything, kids won't learn how to cope with stress or overcome difficulties.
Sometimes, parents are overprotective because they've had bad experiences themselves and don't want their child to go through the same thing. But it's important to remember that facing challenges is a normal part of life, and kids need to learn how to handle them.
Instead of always trying to shield their child from problems, parents should help them learn how to deal with challenges. This means giving them support and guidance, but also letting them make mistakes and learn from them.
By teaching kids how to face difficulties with courage and strength, parents can help them grow into resilient and capable individuals. It's about finding the right balance between keeping them safe and letting them learn and grow on their own.
