The focus of therapy, although reflecting on the past, is more about living a better life in this present moment. For many people, anxious or depressed thoughts replay in their minds on a daily basis causing them to overthink future situations or ruminate on the past.
In therapy, we can notice these automatic experiences as triggers and start to create separation from the thoughts, feelings, and body sensations that are not reflective of our current experience.
