About Emanuella

Emanuella Boroda, RCSWI, Individual and Couples Psychotherapist

I believe that meaningful change begins with understanding ourselves more deeply. Not only our thoughts and behaviors, but the experiences, relationships, and patterns that have shaped how we move through the world.

As a therapist, I work with adolescents, adults, and couples navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, identity and self-worth, family dynamics, and significant life transitions. I have a particular interest in women's mental health, including the emotional complexities of pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, and motherhood.

My therapeutic approach is informed by psychodynamic and attachment-based perspectives, with an emphasis on understanding how our relationships and experiences continue to influence our emotional lives, our sense of self, and the ways we relate to others. I believe that people can hold seemingly contradictory feelings, desires, and needs, and making room for these complexities is an important part of understanding ourselves.

In my work with couples, I am particularly interested in the patterns of connection, communication, and conflict that develop within intimate relationships. I help partners explore not only the challenges they experience together, but also the individual histories, expectations, and emotional needs each brings into the relationship. Through this process, couples can develop greater mutual understanding, more intentional communication, and deeper emotional connection.

In the therapy room, I bring warmth, curiosity, thoughtful reflection, and a touch of humor. I value the therapeutic relationship as a space for both compassion and honest exploration, where clients can feel understood while also being encouraged to examine familiar patterns and consider new perspectives. My approach balances emotional depth with practical growth, recognizing that insight is most meaningful when it helps us live differently.

My background in education and community leadership has deepened my appreciation for the ways family, culture, faith, and community shape our identities and relationships. I strive to bring this sensitivity to my work with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.

Ultimately, I see therapy as a collaborative process of developing greater self-awareness, understanding the forces that shape our lives, and creating the possibility for meaningful, lasting change.
