EMDR THERAPY: FAST-TRACKED.

EMDR INTENSIVES

EMDR Therapy customized to meet your needs.

The traditional model of weekly therapy is shifting to meet your needs. Now more than ever, we need flexibility in how we get support.

EMDR intensives are personalized treatment plans that allow you to skip the waitlist by giving you faster access to select spots, and are designed to support your preferred schedule and timeline for your treatment goals.

Who are you?

  • Perhaps you’ve had a felt sense that something profound has yet to change, but you’re not quite sure how to shift all the way into a new experience of yourself with your current therapist. Maybe you now cognitively understand new things, yet your body is still confused, so you’re curious about how intensive EMDR therapy can help you as you work with your primary talk therapist.

  • Perhaps you’ve been meaning to get into weekly therapy for a while now, but your schedule has been so hectic and demanding that a weekly therapy appointment feels more overwhelming than supportive.

  • Perhaps you’re needing help —- and a lot of it—- right now, and you don’t want to spend months in the traditional weekly model of therapy treatment to feel better.

  • Perhaps you need more efficient support as the busy parent with kids or the working professional who has a lot on their plate.

  • Perhaps you are a current, weekly client who is needing extra, focused support quickly.

  • Perhaps you are a new client who just prefers to work intensively.

Who am I?

I am a Certified EMDR Therapist and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional specializing in using EMDR and trauma therapy to help clients heal from past experiences. I aim to provide a therapeutic experience that is not only supportive, but also a container for real change. I have found that in the EMDR intensive model, there is a unique opportunity for real experiential change that impacts clients in profound ways.

As someone who has experienced the healing of EMDR Therapy, I am inspired to offer EMDR in a way that provides maximum value. With the barriers of the weekly 50-minute sessions limiting our ability to do deep work, I feel the need to incorporate an intensive model into my practice. My hope is that I can provide you with the healing I received using this unique and customizable format.

Research supporting the effectiveness of EMDR Intensives:

  • Intensive application of trauma-focused therapy seems to be well tolerated in patients with PTSD, enabling faster symptom reduction with similar, or even better, results, while reducing the risk that patients drop out prematurely. Learn more here and here.

  • Intensive EMDR treatment is feasible and is indicative of reliable improvement in PTSD symptoms in a very short time frame. Learn more here.

  • An intensive program using EMDR therapy is a potentially safe and effective treatment alternative for complex PTSD. Learn more here.

  • The economy is compelling: even compared to other trauma therapy, the intensive format may decrease treatment time, because of time not spent on a) checking in at the beginning of each session, b) addressing current crises and concerns, c) focusing on stabilizing and coping skills that the client won’t need after trauma healing, or d) assisting the client in regaining composure at the end of the session. The EMDR Intensive Program Structure and Fees:

  • EMDR Intensives run for 2.5 hour weekday options. It is $825 for intensive days.

  • Before the intensive there is a required pre-intensive session (50-minute session) to assess for candidacy, gain insight, and identify obstacles. During this session, we will also begin to target unpleasant beliefs, body sensations, emotions, or images from which you are seeking relief.

  • If the candidate is deemed appropriate for an EMDR intensive they will then have the option to schedule an intensive.

  • After completion of the intensive, there is a recommended follow up session scheduled (50-minute standard session) to assess and support your adaption of positive changes from treatment.

FAQ’s

Who can benefit from EMDR?

EMDR addresses the psychological and physical symptoms stemming from adverse life experiences. EMDR is not just for trauma; it is also utilized for performance enhancement.

Why an intensive instead of a standard 50-minute psychotherapy session?

EMDR intensives allow the opportunity to progress through your symptoms in a more succinct and focused way without the interruption of a 50-minute session. An intensive format may decrease overall treatment time because of time not spent on: a) checking in at the beginning of each session, b) addressing current crises and concerns, c) focusing on stabilizing and coping skills that the client won’t need after healing, or d) assisting the client in regaining composure at the end of the session.

If I’m already a weekly client, can I participate in an EMDR intensive?

Yes. EMDR intensives for current clients are available in modified formats and pricing.

If I already have a primary therapist, can I do an EMDR intensive as adjunct therapy?

Yes. Perhaps you’ve a felt sense that something profound has yet to change, but you’re not quite sure how to shift all the way into a new experience of yourself with your current therapist. Maybe you now cognitively understand new things, yet your body is still confused, so you’re curious about how adjunct EMDR intensive therapy can help. We will identify what format is best for you during your initial consultation.

What can I expect to accomplish in a half-day intensive?

A half day intensive offers a multitude of resources and can help to either increase performance and confidence, or significantly decrease the devastating effects of single event trauma (e.g. negative cognitions, disturbing emotions and body sensations). While significant healing can occur in one full day intensive, Complex PTSD deserves more treatment than one full day intensive. Many of my clients experiencing Complex PTSD may continue to work on their trauma histories through monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly full day intensives.

What can I expect to accomplish in a 2 or 3-day weekday intensive?

Participating in a 2 or 3-day EMDR intensive may create impactful change more efficiently than just weekly, 50-minute sessions or even one full day intensive. We will identify what format is best for you during your initial consultation.

Can my insurance help pay for this program?

Yes. Many insurance companies reimburse a significant portion of the cost of psychotherapy. For insurance purposes, I am considered an out-of-network provider. It's best to determine the exact details of your policy ahead of time, including what benefits are available regarding out-of-network providers and if your insurance will reimburse several hours of therapy in one day or one week. I will provide you with a Superbill for all direct contact therapy services included in the program.
